Clean Those Ears!

Keep Your Dogs’ Ears Clean Folks!

Ears are typically the most neglected part of their body in terms of cleaning. Ear infections can be serious and can begin easily if they are not kept clean.

Materials to use:
·
          Cotton balls
·         Mineral oil
·         Commercially prepared ear cleaner (low alcohol % is the best)

Steps and suggestions for cleaning:

  •  Wash your hands to prevent any infections that will enter your dog’s ears.
  •  Gently wipe the ears. Remove dirt only after determining that the ears are just dirty and not infected.
  • Moisten cotton ball with mineral oil and gently wipe out the inner surface of the earflap.

  • Moisten another cotton ball with the ear cleaner and clean out the part of the ear canal that you can see. Do not push farther into the ears than it should go. Stop if you feel any resistance.

  • Be sure to remove any foreign matter (waxy buildup, dirt, bugs)
